The director of the Tabriz Carpet and Kilim Cooperative, in an interview with Economy Koushan, highlighted the cooperative nature of the Jalali Carpet Company, primarily known as a family cooperative. Ismaeil Jalali added, "This profession has been passed down to us from our ancestors for over a century, and we have endeavored to align it with modern global tastes."

The owner of Jalali Carpet

Ismaeil Jalali stated that the company has the capacity to support the production of around one hundred thousand weavers. He mentioned that there are 1200 weavers in the cooperative, concentrated in East and West Azerbaijan, and scattered in other provinces based on the orders for weaving and production.

History of this Company

Referring to the company's 18 years of professional presence in exhibitions, Jalali said, "We organize numerous exhibitions for about 6 months domestically and nearly 4 months internationally." Over the past 14 years, the company has regularly participated twice a year in Mazandaran exhibitions. He added, "The people of Mazandaran are art lovers and interested in carpets, but unfortunately, economic challenges restrict the purchasing power of not only Mazandaran citizens but also the entire nation. As handmade carpets are considered luxury items, their purchase is prioritized lower by people."

Challanges of carpet exports

Jalali mentioned the challenges of carpet exports, citing issues such as sanctions, currency commitments, and said, "In carpet exports, we deal with traders from other countries, mainly Iranians engaged in carpet trade in those countries. These traders usually do not make cash payments immediately upon receiving the goods, and the return of amounts can take up to a year. On the other hand, issues such as guarantees, currency commitments, and such make us resort to carrying cash, which is not a logical and reasonable solution."

Pointing to Urmia Lake and Mr. Jalali's explicit words:

Regarding the future of the country's carpet industry, the director expressed concerns about the drying of Lake Urmia and emphasized, "If officials do not take action to help this industry, they should at least not obstruct it."
